Today is World Populations day!
This day focuses on people under 25 years old, and people at a reproductive age.
We have all heard the phrase: The kids are our future. Well, lets make sure we have a bright future by educating our children about reproduction! Afterall, they will be producing the next generation of the world population!
Today would be a good day to “have the talk” if your children are “at that age.” There’s really nothing to be embarrassed about. Your kids will only be uncomfortable talking about it if you are.
While we are emphasize that it is up to our kids to bring the next generation into this world, we also need to let them know that they shouldn’t do so before they can afford to take care of a child.
Although the teen pregnancy rate in the US is declining, it is still far too high. I know quite a few people that I graduated with that are either currently pregnant, or have already had a baby. Keep in mind that we graduated just over a year ago. I also know a few that haven’t graduated yet. Now if you are financially stable, and ready to start a family, go ahead. But I think it’s safe to say that most people fresh out of high school are not really ready for a baby.
The world is not in desperate need of people. Take your time, have a baby when you can afford it. We have plenty of people in the world at the moment.
STDs are another thing to talk to your children about. Make sure they know what they are, and how easy it is to get them. More than half of the world population will have an STD in their lifetime. Every year, 1 in 4 teens will contract an STD, and half of all sexually active people in the US will have an STD by the age of 25. Make sure your children know about STDs.
I think you can handle everything else that your children need to know.
